Out on the water in July - Looking for "Water Soldier".
This month, BQRAP Environmental Technician, Mary Gunning, volunteered with a multi agency team to locate and identify colonies of "Water Soldier", an invasive aquatic plant species that has been found in the Trent River. Dave Simon, Invasive Species Outreach Liaison working with the OFAH, says" Unfortunately we found several colonies established in new areas of the Trent River. Out on the Water in June - Sawguin Creek Marsh Monitoring
We're Out on the Water and this time it's a lot warmer.
With the warmer weather here, there is a lot to do in the marsh. The RAP crew is out setting temperature loggers, checking the water bugs and finding some interesting wetland inhabitants. As we get into the warmer summer months monitoring will continue and we will keep you updated on more interesting discoveries.
