Osprey Cam

We have disconnected our web cam for 2011. This year, three osprey chicks successfully fledged the nest. It has been an exciting time - the discovery there were actually three eggs instead of two was a highlight. When the third egg hatched a full week after the others, we checked everyday hoping it would survive. The food supply was plentiful, so all the chicks grew at an amazing rate. Then came the first flights and several wobbly landings, but with practice the birds and the landings became more graceful. The next learning curve was hunting, and all the chicks mastered the art of catching dinner. Now, they will fly south. The parents will leave first and the chicks will follow in a couple of weeks. Check our photo gallery for great shots of the ospreys. Click here...

The camera will be reactivated March 2012. We hope you will tune-in to watch these magnificent birds.

We want to thank everyone who submitted names for the fledglings - Ozzie, Oscar and Ophelia were the names chosen for this year.
